- North: landlords sugar, middle class in cities, black/peasants, more farms
- South: landlords coffee and industrialists, middle class in cities, peasants/industry workers, more industrialized
2. Landowners v. Peasants
- landowners have more of a say and fit into society over peasants
- peasants fight over land
3. Industrialists v. Workers
- workers trying to fight for more rights
4. Rich v. Poor
- rich just want safety, more income, and can pay for things
- poor in the cities and people are fighting for food and housing
5. White v. Black
- white people in Brazil generally own land and are able to car for themselves, and also have their own house
- black people in Brazil generally work for the landowners, scarce with food and shelter, just try to survive
